Aengus MacNaughtonOK — that was really bad!
I finally tried out a 1st gen (is there a new generation of the film yet?) roll of Harman Phoenix that I have had in the fridge for a few months. Used it to test a Kodak S-88 Point & Shoot.
Well, the camera was OK — but the motor struggled even on a fresh battery (in fact I had to swap in a *new* fresh battery to get it to finish rewinding!), but the photos!!! I don’t know if I should react with “Wow!” or “Yikes!” to the super contrast, ultra-saturation, or what! Shot on partly-cloudy days, the camera should be ‘optimal’ for 100-400 ISO film, but eeek! I sent the roll to The Darkroom for developing/scanning, with a note that the base color of Phoenix is very different from typical C41 color negative film, and for them to do any adjustments in scanning to compensate, but eeek!
I shot it around my condo parking lot, around work, and a local river.
What do you all think?
I would not use this for family photos, but the drastic look is starting to grow on me a bit….
I think I like it. It’s not for everything, but I took quite a few images that I like in El Paso.
Yup — it’s growing on me. Based on the comments from the FFP group, I think that I will shoot the second roll in overcast/less ‘bright’ conditions….
