Yup — I got one. I like photography — so I don’t limit myself to specific media or equipment (you should see my collection!) — and the concept of a truly “Reusable Digital Point & Shoot” sounded interesting. Even more basic than getting an old DigiCam — and not a terrible price. I have a ‘Crimson’ model 103 (the improved version):

The basic idea is a digital camera to replace film disposable cameras sent along with kids to summer camp — the cost of the disposables/processing does add up, so this is a ‘comparable’ alternative and it’s not a disaster if the kids drop it off of their canoe into the lake (which you would not want them doing with your vintage Pentax 35mm SLR or even your 10-year-old DSLR!!!).

No screen on the back (a four-digit LCD (like the first LCD watches) counter on the back though), 8 megapixels, no shutter/aperture options, a very simple lens, USB-C for charging and downloading images, and a screw-secured panel where you have a few buttons for options (more in a bit) and a micro-SD slot (it even comes with a 4GB card).

You can set the date/time via the buttons and LCD, and adjust the “shutter sound” level or turn it off (it’s not the most accurate sound). You can even download some ‘presets’ over USB for B&W images, ‘Vintage’ and Standard — you can only have one at a time installed on the camera.

I have only had mine a few days and it’s fun — feels and works very much like a plastic 35mm ‘reusable’ without any winding. The viewfinder is a little fuzzy, but it gets the job done. And the pictures are pretty decent, all things considered. For a travel/quick-use *digital* camera it seems a very good match — though a similarly-sized old Digicam operated in ‘point & shoot’ mode would be about the same, yet has a lot more options. But for a kid (preteen) away at camp — it really is a great option.

I am not sponsored or anything — I bought this like any other customer. I will be posting photos in another post in a few weeks.
