See the picture of the ‘camera’ and film — Nikon Pronea 6i APS SLR (essentially many of the same features as the first Nikon APS-C DSLRS) and expired Kodak 400 APS film 25 exposure. Using Nikon F-mount AF lenses (Nikkor AF 28-85mm and Nikon AF 50mm f1.8). Camera and lenses are clean and work very well — but the film was last produced in 2011 — I am using expired film in canisters so I cannot tell the actual expiration date of each roll.

Well — the camera electronics decided to get wacky in the middle of the Feb roll of film. And the camera relies on the electronics so much, it would not unlock the film door to unload the film for me to use it in my backup Pronea 6i!!! Urrrr — so I ended up taking off the bottom plate — nothing there would open the film door (and the film was wound into the camera, so this exposed it) — and eventually I wrenched/pried the door open and even then the camera would not let go of the film!

As you can see — the film canister got cracked in my trying to pry it out! Lesson learned — when these cameras die — all hope is lost!

But I popped another canister into my backup Pronea 6i and I am shooting that for March, 2025
