Oct 1-7, 2024 — shoot a roll of your favorite 120 film with your favorite Holga camera (or your 35mm Holga, or your 110 Holga — wait, there is a Holga Digital camera??? Bad form!!!) and submit your best shots to the Holga Week 2024 contest!!!
Holgas are plastic “toy” cameras with a long (50+ year) history. Never great quality, very inexpensive, but you actually could shoot film and get images with them. And sometimes it is fun to go ‘low-fi’ for photography….
Check out this video for more info:
I shot my Holga GCFN (glass lens, flash with colored filters, 120 film) with Lomography Turquoise 120 film (and a 135mm Holga fisheye lens for some shots) at Rockburn Park, Elkridge, MD (USA) on October 5 and sent the roll off to The Darkroom in California for processing and scanning.
I have some unintended double exposures, I don’t really see any light leaks (common with Holga cameras), and I forgot sometimes to set the focus on Infinity when using the fisheye lens. But the Turquoise colors are cool — those were fall blue skies, not orange! These are all unedited. The one frisbee disc golf basket that is closest and looks blue is actually very bold red!
Tell me about your Holga Week!!!
